Anna Forti (1865 – 1944)

Anna Forti was born in Venice on 20 August 1865, the daughter of Felice Forti and Regina Basevi. On 17 August 1944 she was arrested together with her elder brother Anselmo and nineteen other elderly guests of the Aged Care House. After being transferred to the Risiera di San Sabba in Trieste she was deported to Auschwitz and murdered there on 7th September 1944.

Anna and Anselmo’s younger brother, Lionello Forti, was also arrested in Ferrara and deported to Auschwitz in February 1944. He did not survive the Shoah.
The memorial stones dedicated to Anna and Anselmo were laid on 27 January 2022.
