Our Digital Edition | About the Digital Edition

DEDM offers a critical reconstruction of the Devisement dou monde by Marco Polo and Rustichello da Pisa presented in a hypertextual frame, in the form of a “critical translation”: it considers the most important versions of the lost text, which were produced in Latin and medieval vernaculars, and provides scholars and readers with a text based on a reconstruction hypothesis which is immediately verifiable by checking the sources. A philological and cultural commentary completes the edition.
The edition is based on a customised version of EVT (Edition Visualization Technology – http://evt.labcd.unipi.it/). EVT is an open-source software for the visualisation of digital scholarly editions and was developed by a team coordinated by Roberto Rosselli Del Turco. All the data are modelled inXML TEI, with a focus on the named entities and the realia
DEDM is fully open source and open access.
