epigramma iscritto su un monumento funebre circolare, rinvenuto a Corfù (Corcira) nel 1843, attualmente uno dei più antichi epigrammi funerari greci. Il testo, composto da sei esametri, commemora Menecrate figlio di Tlasia, di Eantea in Locride Ozolia, morto lontano dalla patria (il monumento è dunque con probabilità un cenotafio). Menecrate è definito “proxenos amico del popolo”: per lui il demos dei Corciresi ha fatto erigere la tomba, alla cui costruzione ha partecipato anche il fratello del defunto, Prassimene. L'iscrizione utilizza l'alfabeto arcaico tipico di Corinto: oltre alle lettere usuali in questa varietà (per esempio l'epsilon a forma di beta), sono notevoli il segno di interpunzione a tre punti collocato alla fine di ciascun esametro e la losanga che marca l'inizio dell'iscrizione. Il testo è redatto nel dialetto dorico corinzio, ma numerose sono le interferenze dalla lingua letteraria tipica del genere epigrammatico e dell'epica.

Translation
Del figlio di Tlasia, Menecrate, eanteo di origine, è questo monumento. Il popolo fece questo per lui. Era infatti prosseno amico del popolo; ma perì in mare e pubblico danno… Prassimene, venuto dalla terra patria, insieme col popolo per il fratello costruì questo monumento.
