TitleDecreto onorario ateniese per la città di Eleunte
Abstract (max. 650 characters with spaces included)

Negli anni quaranta del IV sec. a.C., una zona di attrito tra l’espansionismo di Filippo II e gli interessi militari di Ateneera il Chersoneso Tracico, dove le forze del re macedone e la sua alleata, la città di Cardia, si erano scontrate più volte con lo strategoateniese preposto al controllo della zona e a capo dei cleruchi, Diopite. La situazione aveva portato Atene a rafforzare la sua presenza nella penisola, inviando un altro stratego a fianco di quello già presente, Carete. Anche il decreto onorario per la città di Eleunte, già membro della Seconda lega ateniese e alleata fedele di Atene testimonia il tentativo di consolidare la presenza ateniese nella zona. Preceduto da altre concessioni di benefici alla città che rispondo ad attestazioni di fedeltà dimostrate nei confronti di Atene, questo decreto sancisce privilegi nei confronti della comunità locale attraverso la regolamentazione delle relazioni Eleunte e i cleruchi ateniesi, garantita dalla figura di Carete.

Translation
Sotto l’arcontato di Nicomachos, nella settima pritania della tribù Pandionide, il giorno ventinove della pritania. Tra i proedri ha messo ai voti Aristomachos del demo di Εο. Onesippos del demo di Arafene era segretario, ha deliberato l’Assemblea. Hippostratos figlio di Etearchos del demo di Pallene propose: anche gli Eleuntini abbiano le stesse prerogative che l’Assemblea ha votato per gli abitanti del Chersoneso. Lo stratego Carete si prenda cura di loro allo stesso modo, affinché gli Eleuntini, nel possesso equo e giusto delle loro proprietà, vivano insieme agli Ateniesi nel Chersoneso. E gli Eleuntini vengano invitati a pranzo nel Pritaneo domani.
